There are children in our area who receive most of their weekly nutritional nourishment at school during breakfast and lunch. Then on the weekends, they simply do not have access to adequate nourishment. We have partnered with the teachers of Lance Elementary to start this initiative by pinpointing students that they know are in need. We are committed to helping supply up to 100 bags of food per week for these children. You may have heard the phrase, “It takes a village.” Well, that is true in this sense as well. To care for these children, it will take all of us pitching in, donating food, and packing the weekly bags.
Here are some ways that you can get involved immediately in this project:
ONE: Volunteer to Organize the Backpack Buddies Center!
Come and help us organize the items that go into the Backpack Buddies bags. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know you would like to help, and we will put you in touch with someone on the team!
TWO: Donate Funds for the Food!
Funds can be donated during our weekly offering, during office hours throughout the week, or online by using the link below or on our "give" page.
THREE: Pack the Bags!
Every Wednesday night, you can join others in the SRCC family that assemble “Backpack Buddies” for these children. When you come for dinner in the worship center, grab a bag or two at the Backpack Buddies tables and follow the assembly line. Enjoy a time of praying over these children, their families, and the teachers who serve them every day. You and your family can make a difference every week in the life of a child!
