Lenten sermon series
Lent is a season of the Christian year when Christ followers focus on simple living, prayer, fasting, and/or other specific disciplines in order to grow closer to God. Lent is the 40 days before Easter, beginning with Ash Wednesday but excluding Sundays because every Sunday is like a little Easter. During this time, we recognize that we are not truly ready for Easter. We need to practice walking in the life of Jesus first. Basically, it's about one-tenth of a year...a tithe of time. Lent season this year is March 1 - April 15.
Our "Lenten Challenge" is an opportunity for families, small groups, couples, and/or friends to practice a different discipline of simplicity or charity each day until Easter. We would love to have posts on the SRCC Facebook page of some of the ones you choose with the hashtag #lentenchallenge to encourage each other in our growth throughout this season. Our desire is to help people find their way to Jesus. He is the source of life, love, salvation, freedom, joy...everything we are and everything we have is a gift from God through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. Without Him, we are lost.
